Minutes of the Decemer 14, 2011, Board Meeting

Present: Felton Wright, Jerry Chesnutt, Herb Wills, Judy Alexander, Lisa Unger, David Yon, Charlie Yates, Mark Priddy, Mary Jean Yon, Bill Lott,  Kathy McDaris, Jackie McDaniel, Bill Hillison, Vicky Verano, Bill Dillon, Joe West, Nancy Stedman, Elizabeth Stupi and Mike Slagle

Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.  Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the October minutes. A motion was made to approve the minutes, seconded and approved.

New Business

Joe West and Mike Slagle - Mr. West and Mr. Slagle thanked the Board for their help with the recent Veteran’s Day 5k race.  They presented certificates of appreciation to the Board as well as to Bill Lott and Judy Alexander.

Bill Hillison – Bill presented a proposed budget for the 2012 Bowlegs Run for Scholarship 5k.   A motion was made to approve the budget as presented, seconded, and passed.

Kathy McDaris – Kathy introduced the newly elected Tri Club President, Bill Dillon, to the Board.

Felton Wright – Felton suggested that a line item be created in the budget for equipment repair and replacement.  After discussion among board members, a motion was made to add a line item in the budget for equipment repair and replacement.  The amount will be equivalent to a five year amortization of the Club’s equipment value with a suggested amount being placed in reserve of $50,000.  The motion was seconded, and passed.

Judy Alexander – Judy presented a proposed budget for the 2012 Springtime Tallahassee 10k/5k/1 mile race.  A motion was made to approve the budget as presented, seconded, and passed. 

Jackie McDaniel – Jackie presented a proposed budget for the 2012 GWTC 30k/15k.  A motion was made to approve the budget as presented, seconded, and passed. 

David Yon – David gave a wrap up report on the 2011 Turkey Trot races.  There was approximately $115,000 in revenues and $79,000 in expenses with net proceeds of $36,000.  Half of the net proceeds will be divided between the Boys and Girls Club, The Shelter, and the Refuge House.  The Turkey Trot Heroes raised $3,109 for the Boys and Girls Club, $3,800 for The Shelter, and $5,100 for the Refuge House.  Of the remaining net proceeds, David asked that $5,000 be given to the Chenoweth Fund.  A motion was made to approve David’s request, seconded, and approved. 

Treasurer's Report – Jerry Chesnutt

There is $45,278 in the Club’s checking account and an additional $77,745 to be invested.  The Chenoweth fund has $10,769.  Jerry indicated the balance reflects receipts from Turkey Trot as of 11-30-11.  Expenses and donations from those funds will be made in December."  

Membership Report –Mark Priddy

The Club has 1,735 members in 966 households. This is an increase of 25 new members and 7 additional households. 

Race Director Coordinator Report –Charlie Yates

Charlie reports that the calendar for 2012 is starting to take shape. 

Newsletter Report – Fred Deckert

No report.

Clothing Coordinator Report – Jackie McDaniel for Paula O'Neill

Paula reported that she sold $93 worth of clothing at the Turkey Trot Music Fest.

Equipment Report - Vicky Verano

Vicky reported that it has been a busy year.  She thanked Bill Lott for all his help over the past year.  She is going to look for a larger storage unit, or look into renting a second unit at the same facility.

Website Report – David Yon

No report

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon

A request was made for $250 to assist with travel costs for Chiles High School cross-country Coach Scott Gowan to travel to the Foot Locker Cross-Country Nationals in support of a student who was competing.   The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $250. A motion was made to approve the Committee’s request of $250, was seconded, and approved. 

Triathlon Report – Kathy McDaris

Registration for the 2012 Red Hills Triathlon will be available at the January Tri Club meeting.   After that, it will be open to non-Club members.  The First Timer Group will be starting soon.  The Tri Club has approximately 230 members

Lecture Series Report – Judy Alexander for Nancy Stedman

The Boot Camp Fitness lecture was very informative.  Chuck Engle and Ryan Warrenburg of ZAP Fitness will be the guest speaker at the Tallahassee Marathon/Half Marathon.

Training Report – Chuck Davis/TJ Cutchens

Chika Okoro and Holly Davenport will take over as directors of the fall beginning running group.  TJ Cutchins will stay with the group as a coach and advisor.

Social Coordinator Report – Elizabeth Stupi

Holiday Party was enjoyed by all. 

There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:55 p.m.
