Minutes of the August 8, 2012 Board Meeting
Hosted by Nancy Stedman at Premier Health and Fitness Center

 

Present:  Felton Wright, Herb Wills, Bill Dillon, Lisa Unger, Bill Lott, Jackie McDaniel, Nancy Stedman, Charlie Yates, Tom Perkins, Elizabeth Stupi, Brian Corbin, Jerry Chesnutt, and Judy Alexander

Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.  Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the June minutes.   A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes as presented. 

New Business

Brian Corbin – Brian presented the proposed budget for the Tannenbaum 6k to be held December 15, 2012.  The proceeds from the race will be split between GWTC and the Leon County Parks and Recreation Dept.  A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded, and approved.

Bill Lott – Bill made a request to purchase two flat panel antennae and two tripods to be used with the Club’s chip timing system.  A motion was made to approve up to $375 for the purchase of these items.  The motion was seconded and approved.

Bill Dillon – Bill requested final approval from the Board of the Tri Club Bylaws.  A motion was made to approve the Bylaws, seconded, and approved. 

Tom Perkins – Tom presented the proposed budget for the Miller Landing Madness race to be held August 25.  A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded, and passed to accept the budget as presented.   

Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $55,190 in the Club’s checking account and an additional $49,851 invested.  The Chenoweth fund has $12,914 and the Tri Club account has $5,847. 

Membership Report – Mark Priddy
No report at the meeting.  However, in a later email, Mark reported 1715 members which is 28 more than last month in 953 households, an increase of 12 over last month.

Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates
Charlie passed out a copy of the preliminary 2013 race calendar.  2013 already looks to be a busy year for races.

Newsletter Report – Jackie McDaniel for Fred Deckert
Nothing new to report.

Clothing Coordinator Report –Jackie McDaniel for Paula O’Neill
Paula emailed the following report:  “Sold $344 worth of merchandise since the last meeting.   New singlets have arrived (Asics brand) and I will get our logo printed on them soon. Look for a merchandise table at the BOT.  Anyone who buys something that day will have their name put in a drawing for a free item of their choice.  The cotton T’s will be discounted as well.”   

Equipment Report –Jackie McDaniel for Vicky Verano
Nothing new to report regarding race equipment.  Judy Alexander recommended that the Club allow Fred Deckert to purchase a computer for his use in his role as Newsletter Editor.  After some discussion among board members, Felton Wright made a motion to approve the purchase of a Club computer not to exceed $1,000.  The motion was seconded and approved.

Website Report – David Yon
Nothing new to report.

Chenoweth Fund Report – Felton Wright for David Yon
The Capital City Christian Cruisers (CCCC) requested financial assistance for three runners to go to Nationals.  The Chenoweth Committee approved $500.  A motion was made to approve this request.  It was seconded and approved.

Triathlon Report –Bill Dillon
There are currently 316 members in the Tri Club.  Dr. Daniel Van Durme will be the guest speaker at the Tri Club meeting on August 20.  He will speak to the group on exertional hyponatremia, proper hydration and heat illness.  The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at MoMo’s. 

Lecture Series Report – Nancy Stedman
Last month’s lecture was an overview of CPR at the Red Cross facility.  It was well attended.  Nancy shared with board members that a 3 hour class is offered for a more intense one on one training class for $63/person.  She made a motion that the Club pay for half the cost, not to exceed $1,000, for up to 30 people to take the 3 hour course.  After some discussion among board members, the motion was seconded and approved.

Training Report – Tom Perkins
Approximately 50 runners are attending the Trailblazers Endless Summer Cross Country group training runs on Thursday evenings at Miller Landing.

Social Coordinator Report –Elizabeth Stupi
The July ice cream social was well attended.  Yogurt Mountain donated the frozen yogurt.  There will not be a social in August.  September’s social will be held somewhere in Midtown.  Details to follow in the near future.

There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed at 8:20 p.m.
