Minutes of the June 12, 2013 Board Meeting
Hosted by Lisa Unger at Premier Health and Fitness

Present:  Felton Wright, Jerry Chesnutt, Lisa Unger, Tom Perkins, Mark Priddy, Mike Kennett, Tony Guillen, Nancy Stedman, Paul Guyas, Bill Lott, Ron McNeely and Paula O’Neill

Felton Wright called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.  Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the May minutes.  A slight correction was made to the amount donated to the ALA by the marathon.  A motion was made, seconded, and passed to accept the minutes as corrected.

New Business

Mike Kennett – Presented a design for the 10k Series award shirts that will be gray hooded sweatshirts.  Mike also requested his budget be increased from $700 to $1000 to accommodate the cost of the sweatshirts.  Mike described the good turn out for the series last year, and that it included runners who may not have otherwise entered an event.  A motion was made to increase his budget to $1000.  The motion was seconded and approved by vote.

Felton Wright – Present a proposed Breakfast on the Track budget.  A motion was made to accept the budget as present.  The motion was seconded and passed by vote.

Felton Wright – Presented information pertaining to mile marker plaques to be installed along the Cascade Park Trail.  As part of Blueprint 2000, a trail is being paved in three proposed phases, stretching from Leon High School along Franklin Blvd and eventually to Lake Alberta.  As part of this project, GWTC may enter into a contract with Blueprint 2000 to have manufactured and installed mile markers approximately every half mile for the distance of the trail.  A motion was made to authorize up to $5,000 for Felton to negotiate the contract.  The motion was seconded and after discussion, approved by vote.

Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $140,335 in the Club’s checking account that includes $12,300.77 in the Event 1 Account, $5,439 in the Event 2 account, $57,209 in the General Operating account.  The Chenoweth Fund account has $15,034. There is an additional $50,531 in the investment account.

Membership Report – Mark Priddy
Currently, there are 1,826 members in 999 households. This is an increase of 49 members and 24 households over last month.

Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates
Nothing new to report.

Newsletter Report –Fred Deckert
Nothing new to report.

Clothing Coordinator Report –Paula O’Neill (via email)
Paula sold $420 worth of clothing this month.  Paula announced her intended retirement from this position and agreed to help recruit a replacement.

Equipment Report – Bill Lott for Vicky Verano
A camcorder was purchased for the chip timing system.

Website Report – David Yon
Nothing new to report.

Chenoweth Fund Report – Felton Wright for David Yon
Gary Droze requested $1000 for the SMIRF program.  The amount would defray the cost of park passes, post run refreshments and a small stipend for 2 college students who would lead the program.  The Chenoweth Committee agreed to the request.  A motion was made to approve the request.  The motion was seconded and after discussion, approved by vote.

Triathlon Report –Rob McNeely
Membership is now 347 members.   The club kits have been ordered.  A part of the proceeds from sales will go to the club, and they have several sponsors.

Lecture Series - Paul Guyas
Kevin Sullivan spoke about the mile at Beef o’Brady’s in Midtown.  The upcoming schedule includes: 6/26 - Roger Schmidt on energy systems (metabolism); 6/28 – Dr. Thompson on heat related illness; 9/25 – Marathon discussion panel.  All events are scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. at Beef o’Brady’s in Midtown.

Social Report – Robin Elyse Bennett
Nothing new to report.

There being no further business to discuss; a motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and passed at 8:20 p.m.
