2012 -2013 GWTC 10k Race Series

As the summer starts to wind down, many runners notice that the evenings are a little cooler, and the mornings aren't quite so humid. In addition to more favorable training conditions, the end of August brings the Miller Landing Madness, a race that inevitably (usually around mile 4) offers a brutal reminder that longer race distances are upon us.

Given these changes, many GWTC members use this time of year to plan their upcoming racing season. In addition to the traditional favorites like the Pine Run, however, members this season can look forward to a new challenge: the second annual GWTC 10K Race Series. The races in the series are:

• Run for Lawson Cross Country, Tallahassee, October 6
• Yellow Jacket Swarm, Tallahassee, November 3
• Turkey Trot, Tallahassee, November 22
• Kiwanis River Run, Bainbridge, January 19
• Thomasville Road Baptist Church, Tallahassee, March 2
• Springtime, Tallahassee, April 6
• Red Shoe Run, Tallahassee, April 27
• Missionette Run, Cairo, May 18

The Race Series focuses on participation, not performance. So, finishing times won't matter. Members only need to complete 6 of the 8 races in order to receive an award (most likely an article of clothing), courtesy of the Club. I hope to see all of you at the starting line of the Run for Lawson on October 6!
