The 2014 GWTC Award Winners
January 10, 2015 Goodwood Museum and Gardens, Gathered by David YonAs usual the Awards Committee organized a wonderful evening for us. Their superb selections follow. I have often said the GWTC is by far the most impressive organization I have ever been involved in. The last update (The Rex Cleveland Advancement of the Sport Award) might just explain it better than anything I could ever say. Please read it if you want to understand what this club is about. The kindness and the love expressed in these presentations and in the work of the Awards Committee (Felton Wright, Mandy Hudson, Lisa Unger, Tony Guillen, Cole Tessier and Vince Molosky) bring something special to our world. I count myself lucky to be a member.

Female Triathlete of the Year
Good evening. It’s my pleasure to share with you all about our 2014 Female Triathlete of the Year. When this athlete was growing up, you could not keep her out of the backyard kiddy pool yet, she never “swam a lap” in a pool. At age 4, she got her first bike...
Female Runner of the Year
We all run for a variety of reasons. Some of us run for our health, some of us run to preserve our sanity, and if you’re me you run for the glory. Most of us, though, would probably agree that we run to overcome something. The GWTC 2014 Female Runner of...
Male Runner of the Year
This first time I encountered this runner’s name was back in late 2008 as I was looking at the results of the 10 mile challenge. I was familiar with the runner who finished 2nd (Tripp Sutherland). He was fast and in my mind was probably the best runner in...

2014 Cleveland-Caldwell Advancement of the Sport Award
When I was a freshman at Wakulla High School, I had no idea what cross country was. Didn’t know what it was about or why people did it, until that sophomore year when I joined the track. That was 5 years ago, and as the years went by, I grew a love for...
