Tallahassee’s summer days are sometimes known as “dog days.” This description is usually reserved for the sweltering days of August. But, hey, this was a benefit for Rover on June 12 and the heat and humidity were out in full force. Tim Simpkins and Carrie Weyant overcame any problems with the heat to be the first male and female finishers. Tim ran 16:34 without any help from second place finisher and default masters winner David Yon who finished in 18:13. Carrie had Peggy Simpson pushing her. Peggy ran 20:55 to fall 13 seconds short of first, but fast enough to claim the master’s prize.
The race was well done. The course starts off with a flat first mile, includes a bit of a hill in the second mile and then finishes with a tough hill at the 2.5 (approximately) mile mark.
