Chiles rules City Championships By David Yon
October 2, 2004, Maclay High SchoolChiles High School took the boys and girls high school divisions at the City Cross Country Champions on Saturday. The boys team bested host Maclay 29 to 74 as eight teams competed on the very fast course. The girls made it much closer as Chiles edged Maclay by two points 33 to 35. Belle Vue won the girls middle school title by placing three runners (Joanna Forsythe, Sharika Lee and Whitney Adkins) in the top ten, while Maclay captured the boys title.
Jonathan Blocker battled it out with Brennan Clayton while winning the boys high school division in 16:11. Brennan was 16:43. Josef Franklin of Godby grabbed third in 17:23. On the girls side Adrianna Piekarewicz added another title to her collection by running 19:41 to win on behalf of Maclay. Kelly Savery took second for Chiles in a time of 19:48. Brooke Eubanks (Maclay) and Patrick Swain (Maclay) won the middle school race.
