II. NEW BUSINESS
Tarik Noriega
Tarik has been a member of Gulf Winds for twenty-five years, he presented to the board his concerns and questions about the diversity committee. His biggest concerns were if the committee would be opening doors to unwarranted topics, he made some valid questions that the board decided they would consider and table or a different discussion.
Grand Prix/Tannenbaum – Mark Tombrink
Mark Presented that so far we plan to have the full list of nominations for awards, however if one category did not fill based upon the direction of the year it would not be given.
The Youth Grand Prix cannot exceed the 5k distance, but this year we have a 6k on there for the youth that being Tannebaum. In the spirit of the year, a motion was made to pre-approve the 6k distance for this year but if wanted to continue the policy would have to change. Motion was approved.
At the moment the date of the Tannenbaum is not secured, possibly looking at December 12th.
Conflict of Interest- David Yon
David presented to the board the conflict-of-interest sheets for board members to look over and sign. The three thoughts when going over the sheet are perceived, potential, and actual conflicts of interest. All present board members signed with the understanding that without those forms we cannot file the 990.
Ballot Nominations- Paul
