Gulf Winds Track Club Minutes
of the November 13, 2013 Board Meeting Hosted by Rob McNeelyPresent: Mark Priddy, Nancy Stedman, Rob McNeely, Herb Wills, Mary Jean Yon, David Yon, Tony Guillen, Lisa Unger, Jackie McDaniel, Jerry Chesnutt, Bill Lott, Amanda Hudson, Abe Middleton, and Paul Guyas
Lisa Unger called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the October minutes. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Amanda Hudson – Amanda presented a proposed budget for the 2014 Springtime 10k/5k/1mile races. A motion was made to accept the budget as presented, seconded, and approved.
David Yon – A recent contribution of $100 was made in memory of Reid Vannoy. After some discussion by board members, a motion was made to give the money to Eric and Lisa Johnson, race directors of the GWTC 10 mile/5 mile Challenge, to use in putting on the race that Reid previously directed. The motion was seconded, and approved.
David Yon – Chris Sumner asked if GWTC would sponsor the open track meet to be held at Florida High on February 8, 2014. In return for the sponsorship, $1 of each entry fee would be given to the Chenoweth Fund. After discussion among board members, it was decided to seek more information and discuss again next month.
David Yon – It is time to renew the Club’s Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) membership and corresponding insurance coverage. David will renew with the same $2 million coverage that is in place now.
Lisa Unger – Lisa gave a wrap-up report on the 2013 Women’s Distance Festival 5k and 1-mile races. Revenues were $3,780 and expenses totaled $1,330. The proceeds were split between the Club (50%), FSU Women’s Cross Country (25%), and Tallahassee Memorial Foundation (25%).
Lisa Unger – Lisa requested $300 to purchase pizza to have at the upcoming membership meeting on November 19. A motion was made to allow $300 to purchase pizza for the annual meeting. If there is a need to purchase additional pizza while at the meeting, it is also approved. The motion was seconded, and approved.
Mary Jean Yon – Mary Jean provided the Board with an update on the Club elections. Thanks go to Peg Griffin, Bobby York and Mary Jean Yon for serving on the GWTC Elections Committee. Special thanks go to Andy Roberts & Peg Griffin for designing and launching the online component of this year’s election, which included the Tri Club election as well. A total of 412 votes were received for GWTC and 103 votes for the Tri Club.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $78,512.57 in the Club’s operating account that includes $5,000 in the Events 1 Account, and $17,909.55 in the Events 2 account. There is $50,351 in the Investment account, $13,120.12 in the Chenoweth account, $8,875 in the Assets Replacement account and $10,755.82 in the Tri-Club account.
Membership Report – Mark Priddy
Currently, there are 2,022 members in 1,097 households. This is an increase of 51 members and 38 new households over last month.
Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates

Newsletter Report –Jackie McDaniel for Fred Deckert
Nothing new to report.
Clothing Coordinator Report –Abe Middleton
Abe has placed an order for 200 shirts. Half the shirts are long sleeve and the other half short sleeve, in four different colors.
Equipment Report – Vicky Verano via email

Website Report – David Yon
The Race Directors Resources page and the Race Directors Handbook are both updated.
Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
Nothing new to report.
Triathlon Report – Rob McNeely
A record number of triathletes from the Club participated in Ironman Florida. Out of the 24 participants, 14 were first timers. The finishing times ranged from 11:03 to 16:37. In recognition of his 300th multi-sport event, Bob Keller was recognized after the Tri the Rez race and also the Leon County Commission recognized him with a Resolution. Jennifer Kilinski is putting together a 3 series Tri the Rez event. The Tri Club holiday and awards party is scheduled for December 16 at MoMos.
Lecture Series – Paul Guyas
Paul is looking into purchasing speakers to go with the recently purchased projector. A club member is putting together a photo collage to be shown during the upcoming Music Fest and other events.
Training Report – Chika Okoro and Holly Parker
Paul Guyas announced that the Beginning Runners class has ended. Some of the group ran the FSU Cares 5k last weekend as their 5k graduation event and some will run the upcoming Trash Dash 5K next weekend.
Social Report – Robin Elyse Bennett
Nothing new to report.
