Felton Wright called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the April minutes. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Artie White, Capital City to the Sea Trails Project – Mr. White gave a presentation to the Board on the upcoming project. It is envisioned to be a series of paved multiuse trails that will connect various areas from Capital Cascades Park all the way to the coast. Three public workshops are planned starting in June. Mike Burns – Mike gave a wrap-up report of the 2013 Palace Saloon 5k race. There was approximately $23,420 in revenues and approximately $15,285 in expenses with an approximate net of $8,135. Mike discussed the results of the survey he sent out to participants after the race and presented a draft budget for 2014.
Jay Silvanima and Nancy Stedman– Jay and Nancy gave a wrap-up report of the 2013 Tallahassee Marathon/Half Marathon. There was a net profit of approximately $24,587. Half of that, approximately $12,625 will go to the American Lung Association of Florida. They also presented a proposed budget for 2014. A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded and approved.
David Yon – David presented a proposed budget for the 2013 Great Potluck Bash. A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded, and approved.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $93,186 in the Club’s checking account with $4,589 of that belonging to the Tri Club and $6,856 is in the equipment reserve fund. The Chenoweth Fund account has $15,034. There is an additional $50,531 in the investment account.
Membership Report – Mark Priddy
Currently, there are 1,777 members in 975 households. This is an increase of 102 members and 56 households over last month.
Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates
Nothing new to report.
Newsletter Report –Fred Deckert
Nothing new to report.
Clothing Coordinator Report –Paula O’Neill (via email)
Paula sold $150.00 worth of clothing this month.
Equipment Report –Vicky Verano (via email)
Equipment rentals are going well.
Website Report – David Yon
David and Peg are working on replacing the current link for race director handbook with an index of race director resources. The new index will include a link to a revised handbook and other helpful information for race directors.
Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
Nothing new to report.
Triathlon Report – Jerry Chesnutt for Rob McNeely
Membership remains steady around 342 members. The tri season is in full swing with 4 grand prix races held so far this year. The club is still working with vendors to create tri kits for members. Jerry thanked David Yon for having a link created on the webpage to make it easier to find Tri Club business.
Lecture Series – Paul Guyas
Kevin Sullivan will give a talk on how to run the mile. It is scheduled for May 29 at 7pm at Beef O’Bradys on Thomasville Rd in Midtown.
Training Report
Nothing new to report.
Social Report – Robin Elyse Bennett (via email)
Robin reported that she and Bobby York have discussed having a small breakfast social at the first race of the trail series and a bigger picnic and closing social at the last race on August 3. She requested $400 for both socials. Also, she requested approval to purchase popcorn for GWTC members at the upcoming viewing of The Spirit of the Marathon II. The social committee has a budget, so she will use those funds. She is working on a future bowling and bar social.
There being no further business to discuss; a motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and passed at 8:40 p.m.
