Gulf Winds Track Club Minutes

Felton Wright called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the March minutes. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Bobby York – Bobby discussed the Tallahassee Summer Trail Series details with the Board. The 4-race series will take place on challenging trails in Tallahassee and will begin in June following the Trailblazers’ training runs. It will end in August. Dates and locations will be announced in the near future. A one-mile run for kids ages 12 and under will precede each event. There will be one t-shirt for the entire event. This will be a Club sponsored race series.
Felton Wright – With the departure of Brian Corbin and Judy Alexander from the Board in May, Felton, as President of the Club, is tasked with the responsibility of replacing them, subject to approval of the Board. He requested the Board consider Nancy Stedman and Tony Guillen to fill the upcoming vacancies. A motion was made for Felton to appoint Nancy Stedman and Tony Guillen to the Board, seconded, and approved. Felton discussed expanding the number of at-large board members. This would require an amendment to the club’s organizational documents which would go to the membership for a vote.
Judy Alexander and Brian Corbin – Judy gave a wrap-up report on the Springtime 10k/5k/1 mile races. There was a net profit of approximately of $11,199. Half of that, approximately $5,599, will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend. Proceeds from the raffle, $135.00 will also go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend as a direct donation. There were also donations made to the Chenoweth Fund in the amount of $152.00. Judy and Brian were very appreciative of the assistance they received from Katie Showman with overseeing the finances of the races.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $67,091.25 in the Club’s checking account with $5,285 of that belonging to the Tri Club and $5,744 is in the equipment reserve fund. The Chenoweth Fund account has $14,109.18. There is an additional $50,531 in the investment account.
Membership Report – Mark Priddy
Currently, there are 1,675 members in 919 households. This is an increase of 63 members and 37 households over last month.
Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates

Newsletter Report –Fred Deckert

Clothing Coordinator Report –Paula O’Neill (via email)
Paula sold $280.00 worth of clothing this month.
Equipment Report –Vicky Verano
Vicky reported that they are very busy with equipment rentals. There are seven races this weekend, and all are using Club equipment. Brian Corbin sent the track-timing camera to the shop for an estimate for repairs. He presented the Board with the estimate to repair the camera. A motion was made to repair the camera, seconded, and approved.

Triathlon Report – Rob McNeely
Membership remains steady around 340 members. The unofficial season opener was the Red Hills Sprint Triathlon that was held March 30 at Maclay Gardens state park. It was a very successful start to the season. This will be the 12th consecutive year of the youth triathlon races. Four races are scheduled for the YTS; they will be held April 21, July 14, September 1, and a splash and dash (swim and run) will be held June 2. Volunteers are needed for all races. Clinics are scheduled to assist the kids and volunteers are needed for those also. This month’s speakers at the Tri Club meeting will be Chad and Marci Gray from Tallahassee’s Center for Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. They will be speaking on injury avoidance and recovery.
Lecture Series
Paul Guyas will be replacing Nancy Stedman as lecture series coordinator.
Training Report
Bill Lott reported that there were over 80 people at the first meeting of the Trailblazers.
Social Report – Robin Hill
Nothing new to report.
Prior to the end of the meeting, Jeanne O’Kon asked for volunteers at the pre-registration and race day for the upcoming Palace Saloon race.
There being no further business to discuss; a motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and passed at 8:31 p.m.
