GULF WINDS TRACK CLUB Minutes
of the April 11, 2012 Board Meeting Hosted by Kathy McDarisPresent: Felton Wright, Jerry Chesnutt, Judy Alexander, Lisa Unger, David Yon, Vicky Verano, Mary Jean Yon, Bill Lott, Jackie McDaniel, Nancy Stedman, Jay Silvanima, Mark Priddy, Charlie Yates, Kathy McDaris, Lynn McWilliams, and Leisa Janes
Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the March minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Leisa Janes and Lynn McWilliams – Representing the 2012 Relay for Life of North Leon, Leisa and Lynn asked the Board to consider a sponsorship in the form of purchasing a track marker that would have the GWTC logo on it and be placed along with others on the track at Chiles High School. The event will take place on May 4 and 5 and the cost of the track marker is $250. After some discussion by the Board, a motion was made to approve the sponsorship in the form of a track marker at a cost of $250. The motion was seconded and passed with three dissents.
Jay Silvanima and Nancy Stedman – Jay and Nancy gave a wrap up of the 2012 Tallahassee Marathon and Half Marathon. The net proceeds were $16,577 with half going to the American Lung Association of Florida. They also presented a proposed budget for the 2013 race. A motion was made to approve the budget as presented, was seconded and passed.
Judy Alexander – Judy gave a wrap up of the 2012 Springtime 10k/5k/1 mile race. The net proceeds, approximately $12,000 will be split between the Club and the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend after the numbers have been finalized and verified. An additional $500 from the sale of raffle tickets will also be donated to the Boys and Girls Club.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $57,759.56 in the Club’s checking account and an additional $49,851.00 invested. The Chenoweth fund has $14,913.68. Jerry asked the Board to consider purchasing computing equipment for the use of the Club Treasurer. A motion was made to allow up to $2,000 to be allocated towards the purchase of a computer, printer, and software to be used in conducting Club business. The motion was seconded and passed.
Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1505 members in 836 households. This represents 39 more members and 24 additional households more than last month.
Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates
Things are moving smoothly right now; no major changes to the calendar.
Newsletter Report – Jackie McDaniel for Fred Deckert
No report.
Clothing Coordinator Report – Jackie McDaniel for Paula O’Neill
Paula sold $547 worth of clothing and merchandise this month. A visor and 2 pairs of socks were donated to the Springtime training group for their raffle at their final meeting.
Equipment Report –Vicky Verano
Equipment pickups and drop-offs are going smoothly. The addition of the second storage unit has made handling equipment rentals and storage much easier. Vicky suggested ordering more tables to have on hand since there are more races needing them.

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon

Triathlon Report –Kathy McDaris for Bill Dillon
More than half of the finishers at the Red Hills Triathlon were GWTC members. 289 athletes picked up their race numbers at packet pickup and from that group, 270 finished the race. There was one bike crash with an injury. A draft of the Tri Club by-laws is in the works.
Lecture Series Report – Nancy Stedman
The movie, Unbreakable, The Western States 100, was shown last month at the Myers Park Community Room. The location worked out well and there was a large group that attended.
Training Report – Jackie McDaniel for Chuck Davis
The Tuesday interval group continues to grow. There are approximately 50 people attending each week. The Trailblazers started with a bang. The first week at Tom Brown Park, 104 people attended. The second week at the Miccosukee Greenway, 125 people attended. To date there are 25 new members with completed applications.
Social Coordinator Report – Judy Alexander for Elizabeth Stupi
The next social will be April 28 at Tom Brown Park. It will be family friendly. GWTC will provide drinks and light snacks. In May, the social will be at the Midtown Filling Station. The June social will be the Potluck Bash.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:17 p.m.
