Herb Wills – Herb informed the Board that due to budget constraints, Jacksonville (Duval County) will eliminate some high school sports during the 2011-2012 school year. Cross country is one of the sports to be eliminated. Members of the Jacksonville running community have set out to try and restore cross country running using private funds. Given the short time frame to raise funds, Herb brought this issue to the Board to decide whether or not GWTC would like to support the effort. Many Jacksonville schools run and compete in Tallahassee. After some discussion among Board members, there was a motion to contribute $500 to assist with the cause. The motion was seconded and passed.
