GULF WINDS TRACK CLUB Minutes

Present: Charlie Yates, Julie Clark, Bob Macdonald, Jerry Chesnutt, Herb Wills, Seeley Gutierrez, Felton Wright, Mark Priddy, Vicky Verano, Nancy Stedman, Jay Silvanima, Mary Jean Yon, David Yon, Judy Alexander, Bill Lott, Kevin Wable, and Jackie McDaniel

Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the June minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.

New Business

Herb Wills presented a proposal to have a Gulf Winds Track Club information kiosk constructed at Forestmeadows. If the Club pays for materials, Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department (TPRD) will build and maintain the kiosk, and will also use one side of it. The kiosk will provide a billboard for promoting races and membership. A motion was made to approve up to $2,000 to move forward on the project, and to provide a yearly budget of $500 for maintenance and upkeep. The motion was seconded and approved by unanimous vote.

Jay Silvanima and Nancy Stedman introduced the new marathon course for the 2011 Tallahassee Marathon. The half marathon course will not change from what it has been the past few years. They also presented a draft budget for the 2011 races. A motion was made to approve the budget as presented, seconded, and approved by unanimous vote.

Kevin Wable, Target Copy, made a presentation to the Board to provide examples of items they can produce that might be of interest to the Club. He offered a discount of 15% to race directors.

The Grand Prix Committee provided names to the board to consider for the vacant seat on the committee. After some discussion, Chika Okoro was selected.

Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,257 members in 666 households including 68 new members in 35 households this month.

Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates
Charlie presented to the Board an updated race calendar. Summer requests have been slow. Charlie is working on the 2011 calendar.

Newsletter Report –Jackie McDaniel for Fred Deckert

Clothing Coordinator Report –Jackie McDaniel for Margarete Deckert
No report.

Equipment Report –Vicky Verano
Vicky reported that rentals have been slow this summer due to fewer races this time of year.

Website Report – David Yon
Linda Vannoy is redesigning the front page of the website.

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
David reported that the Pot Luck Bash netted $800.

Robert Macdonald- Robert Macdonald
Bob reported that the Tri Club has 220 members and approximately $4,000 in their checking account. Kathy McDaris recently made a donation of $500 to the Tri Club from profits of the Red Hills triathlon. This donation will be used to purchase a Tri Club feather similar to the one that the GWTC owns.
