NEW BUSINESS:
REPORTS:
Triathlete Report – no report.
Race Director Coordinator – Charlie Yates reviewed the race calendar. Once again 2008 will be a busy year.
Race Director – Judy Alexander presented an updated budget for the 10 Mile Challenge. She requested that the Club donate $2000 of the race proceeds to the Tallahassee Area Crew (TAC). The approved budget authorized 50% of the net revenues to be donated to TAC. The race budget is not final because an amount of $1200 billed for T-shirts with the incorrect design is still in dispute since Judy rejected the shirts as unacceptable. If the race must pay for the shirts, the net revenue will be $1583.15; if Judy prevails in the dispute it will be $2783.15. If the pre-race budget were followed, TAC would receive $791.58 or $1391.58, depending on the resolution of the outstanding bill. Judy reported that $1600 of the race revenues came from TAC supporters and that most of the volunteers were TAC members or supporters. On that basis she moved that the Club donate $2000 to the TAC. The motion was seconded and passed 7-4. If the $1200 bill does not have to be paid, the Club will net $783.15; if it does have to be paid the Club will lose $416.85. David Yon discussed a final budget for Turkey Trot. The Club will receive about $9400. Because the race did better than expected financially, he would like to increase funds donated to the Shelter from $2500 to $3000 and that the $10,000 amount for the Refuge House remain the same. A motion was made to pay these amounts. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously to accept the budget as amended.
Lecture Series –Fred Deckert announced all the information for Jeff Galloway’s lecture on January 5 is in the newsletter as well as on the website. Jeff will notify Fred if there are any changes. M.J. and David agreed to lead the group at Forest Meadows for the run. M.J. said she would do a follow up mailing to remind people of the lecture and run.
Newsletter – Fred Deckert no report.
Clothing Coordinator – Margarete Deckert may order new hats after holiday season. She has sold almost half of the 50 she ordered in the summer.
Social Committee Report –Mary Jean Yon for Kathy Lindsay reminded everyone about the Holiday Party with Crooked Shooz on Saturday December 15.
Awards Committee –Mary Jean for Lisa Unger announced that Annual Awards nominations are received. Awards will be presented January 13.
Treasurer’s Report –Gene Opheim reported that the Club has $78,103, which is $22,899 more than last month; the Chenoweth Fund has $13,983, which is a decrease of $1263. Summer Lillie won $50 in movie tickets at Governor’s Square in the member drawing for the month. This is the last drawing of the year. Gene hopes this member drawing will continue, but it is up to the Board in January to approve again. Gene also passed around a clipping from the Tallahassee Democrat featuring Cornerstone Learning Community. They received a $300 donation from GWTC to begin a running program. Their training program culminated in a race at the school on November 30. Gary Griffin and Judie Kean helped train the students. Lastly, Jay submitted a report about the advertisement on the marathon websites: the number of hits the Tallahassee Marathon icon received jumped from 44 to 191 from October to November, respectively. Gene will present a new budget for 2008 in January. He requires new budgets from those committees that need more money.
Training Report – Nadine Dexter reported that Robin Borschel would lead the Springtime training group instead of Julie Clark. The group will begin on January 28. Nadine plans to hold another Boot Camp for runners in March.
Equipment – Nadine for Joe Dexter turned in checks from various races.
Website Committee Report – David Yon reported that he and Peg Griffin were adding a lot of new information to the club race history area. Rex Cleveland sent in results from races in early years. Also, Bill McGuire is providing copies of maps and other documentation for local race courses that are certified.
Chenoweth Fund – David Yon reported the committee received a funding request of $1000 from Terry Massa for the Special Olympics 5K, which the Chenoweth committee approved. However, following up on Mae Cleveland’s comments from the November meeting, David asked if the Board wanted to fund this request from Club money instead of Chenoweth funds. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to support the Special Olympics 5K of Leon County with $1000 of Club money, not Chenoweth Funds.
Membership – Peg Griffin reported we have 925 members and 538 households.
Racing Report – no report.
There was a motion to adjourn at 8:52 PM, which was seconded and passed by unanimous vote. The next board meeting will be held on January 9, 2008 hosted by Joe and Nadine Dexter. These minutes have not been reviewed and accepted by the Board. Beth Alexander, Secretary.
