Female Runner of the Year – Loranne Ausley
Presented by Randy HannaLike many of us, this runner started out as a chubby child — unlike me — she is no longer chubby. Like most of us, this runner has a supportive spouse and family. Like most of us, this runner’s supportive spouse thinks she is a little crazy — but still loves her.
Like many of us, this runner has completed quite a few marathons.
Like all of us, this runner enjoys discussing her injuries — like some of us she makes frequent visits to chiropractors, orthopedic doctors and other health care professionals — sometimes all on the same day and in between workouts.
Like many of us, this runner has struggled between whether she should excel in short distance or long-distance races — unlike most of us, she excels in both. She wins the 5K races and has run the Boston Marathon.
Like many of us, she likes to cross train, including cycling, swimming, yoga and politics.
Like many of us, she has opinions — unlike most of us she is willing to put her opinions out into the public eye for approval or disapproval.
She is in it for the long haul — as shown by her great performance at Ironman Florida which showed, like all of us, that she loves the competition and the desire to do her best — she has, like all of us, that special will.
But not of us have that one special thing that she has — Iron Will.
It is my pleasure to present the 2007 Female Runner of Year – Loranne Ausley
