Kate McFall and Kim Shugar, with a lot of help from the Johnson family, made their race directing debut with a sparkling performance under bright blue skies at Tom Brown Park. Kats and Dawgs all over the Big Bend area cheered the almost 200 runners as they helped Kate and Kim raise money for the Tallahassee-Leon County Community Animal Service Center. The course was a Dana Stetson special – so need I say more? Up and down and off road led to a bit of swearing, but a lot of satisfied smiles as 179 runners finished the 5K. There was a one mile fun run/walk with 20 or so participants as well.
Tim Boulton was the first one to conquer the rugged course and he captured the title in 19:49. Carrie Weyant was the first woman finisher as she ran 23:06. Charlie Yates claimed the title of the finisher with most years of experience at life (77)! Jean Bowling took that title for the women (65).
