The Sucker Run in Bainbridge, Ga. debuted a new course Jan. 12 that is perfect for PR’s or watching wildlife, whatever you prefer. For Dwayne Maddron and Pieper Stockman there was the added benefit of being first male and female across the line. Dwayne ran a 6:05 fifth mile to maintain a comfortable lead over second place finisher and masters winner David Yon, 30:09 to 30:44. Pieper ran 36:52 to claim the women’s title, while Marti Kirkland was second woman and the female masters winner with a 38:46.
Fifty-five runners finished the race, but this race is expected to grow. The drive is not bad and the race directors put on a first class event. The trophies were nice and there was lots of food afterwards.
