GULF WINDS TRACK CLUB Minutes

Present: Julie Clark, David Yon, Seeley Gutierrez, Mark Priddy, Charlie Yates, Felton Wright, Judy Alexander, Bill Lott, Jackie McDaniel, Bonnie Wright, Vicky Verano, Jay Silvanima, Nancy Stedman, and Fred Deckert

Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m. Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the July minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.

New Business
Judy Alexander announced that a check for 25% of the proceeds from the Springtime Tallahassee races would be presented to the Treats for Teens organization. This was previously approved by the Board.

Judy Alexander introduced Vicky Verano to the Board. Vicky has taken over the duties of the Equipment Manager.

Old Business
Bonnie Wright contacted three companies and obtained price quotes for Automated External Defibrillators (AED). A motion was made to purchase a Cardiac Science AED for $1,395.00. Training will be provided for up to ten club member volunteers.

Treasurer’s Report – Gene Opheim
No report.

Membership Report – Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,151 members in 641 households including 22 new members in 14 households. . Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates Charlie reported that the 2009 calendar is filling up with a lot of Fall races. The 2010 calendar is also filling up quickly.

Newsletter Report – Fred Deckert
The new mailing routine is working well; no reports of missing issues of the Fleet Foot.

Clothing Coordinator Report – Margarete Deckert
No report.

Equipment Report – Vicky Verano
The transition between equipment managers and training is going well.

Website Report – David Yon Google Earth maps of many of Tallahassee’s running trails have been posted to the GWTC webpage, thanks to the hard work of club member Clark Evans.

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
A request for financial assistance of $300 was made by Gary Droze to assist with his summer running group. The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $300. Brian Corbin requested $200, on behalf of Perry Shaw, to be used to rent port-o-lets for the Lincoln Invitational. The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $200. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to approve both requests.

Triathlete Report – Robert Macdonald
No report.

Lecture Series Report – Nancy Stedman
A lecture on sports nutrition will be given by Laurel Wentz, FSU Athletic Department. The lecture will be at Premier Health and Fitness Center on September 18, 2009. More details to follow.

Training Report – Julie Clark
No report.

Social Coordinator Report – Kathy Lindsay
Fred Deckert reported that the Holiday Party is scheduled for December 12, 2009.

There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:24 p.m.
