of the August 11, 2010 Board Meeting Hosted by Julie Clark at Premier Health and Fitness CenterPresent: Charlie Yates, Julie Clark, Bob Macdonald, Jerry Chesnutt, Herb Wills, Seeley Gutierrez, Mark Priddy, Mary Jean Yon, David Yon, Judy Alexander, Bill Lott, Carl Nordhielm, Fred Deckert and Jackie McDaniel
Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the July minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Carl Nordhielm presented to the Board a proposal and event summary for a wife carry “running” event. This event is planned for February, 2011, and is loosely modeled after the official wife carry event, but will probably also include significant others. The objective is to raise money for several charities with an emphasis on having fun. Carl asked for volunteer support and assistance from the Club.
In Gary Kenney’s absence, Judy Alexander informed the Board that the middle school cross country championships will be held at the Apalachee Regional Park. This event will be held in October with more information becoming available soon.
Mary Jean Yon requested approval from the Board to purchase (5) recycling containers to be used at races. The estimated cost of the containers and bags is $350. A motion was made to approve the requested, seconded, and approved by unanimous vote.
Mark Priddy updated the Board on the School Grant Program. Last year, 14 schools received funding from the program. He has received six funding requests from schools for the upcoming school year.
Mark Priddy received a request asking the GWTC to become involved with a group called “Girls on the Run”. After discussion among board members, it was decided that since the Club is presently offering beginning running training groups for GWTC members and the community, it would not benefit our members to join with this group.
David Yon – David announced that Capital Health Plan (CHP) will once again be the major sponsor for the 2010 Turkey Trot. He also informed the Board that CHP is offering financial assistance to other Club races. David will get back to the Board with more information and guidelines on how to make this available to race directors.
Judy Alexander – Judy announced the names of the members on the Committee on Nominations. This year, they are: Paula Kiger, Kevin Wable, Bill McGuire, Peg Griffin and Mary Jean Yon. There was a motion to approve the selection of these members, seconded, and approved by unanimous vote.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $12,799 in the Club’s checking account, and $77,369 in a certificate of deposit. The Chenoweth Fund has $13,214.
Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,257 members in 674 households including 12 new members in 8 households this month.
Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates
Charlie is working on the 2011 calendar. He is still receiving change requests for the 2010 calendar.
Newsletter Report –Fred Deckert
No report.
Clothing Coordinator Report –Fred Deckert for Margarete Deckert
Margarete would like to explore the idea of combining her clothing orders with other orders placed by race directors. The larger volume could result in cost savings.
Equipment Report –Bill Lott for Vicky Verano
Bill reported that the LED clock had to have the battery replaced. The cost was approximately $50.
Website Report – David Yon
None.
Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
A request was made by the Capital City Christian Cruisers for $1,500 to assistant with travel expenses to the AAU National Championships in Virginia. The Chenoweth Committee approved $1,000. A motion was made to approve this request in the amount of $1,000, seconded, and approved by unanimous vote.
Triathlon Report – Robert Macdonald
Bob reported that the Tri Club has 230 members and approximately $4,500 in their checking account. The Tri Club is ordering a Tri Club feather similar to the one that the GWTC owns. Steve Tower from K-Swiss will be the speaker at their next meeting.
Lecture Series Report –Nancy Stedman

Training Report –Julie Clark
Beginning Running Group starts September 8 at FSU’s Mike Long Track.
Social Coordinator Report – Kathy Lindsay
No report.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:44 p.m.
