Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the July minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Bill Hillison – Bill and Peg Griffin presented a report to the Board regarding the potential acquisition of a RFID “Chip” timing system. A committee including Andy Roberts, Bill Hillison, Peg Griffin, Brian Corbin, Jay Silvanima, Bill Lott, and David Yon will review the systems and make recommendations to the Board on a possible purchase.
Michael Weyant – Michael and Stephanie are planning to direct three kid’s triathlon races this year. The name of the races has changed to Tallahassee Youth Tri Series. The races are affiliated with the Youth Tri Series for Livestrong in Tampa, Fl.
Michael Kennett – Michael provided the Board with a list of the races scheduled to be on the 10k race series. The races are: Yellow Jacket Swarm, Tallahassee, October 15, 2011 – YMCA Veterans’ Day Classic, Bainbridge, November 12, 2011 – Kiwanis Run, Bainbridge — but only if held on December 31, 2011 – Thomasville Road Baptist Church, Tallahassee, March 3, 201 – Springtime, Tallahassee, March 31, 2012 – Rose City Run, Thomasville, April 28, 2012 – Missionette Run, Cairo, May 12, 2012. Participants will be required to run six of the seven races to receive an award.
Judy Alexander and Brian Corbin for Gary Kenney – This year’s Leon County Middle School Cross Country Championship Meet is Wednesday, September 28, at 6pm at Apalachee Regional Park. Gary is hoping a lot of Club members will volunteer again this year (primarily
on the course and for parking). If folks could arrive by 4:30, Gary will be there by 2pm.
Bill Lott – Bill presented the proposed budget for the Miller Landing Madness race to be held August 27. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to accept the budget as presented.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $14,175 in the Club’s checking account and $77,830 in a certificate of deposit. The Chenoweth fund has $12,523, and the Tri Club has $6,039.
Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,539 members in 840 households. For the month, that is an increase of 31 members and 16 additional households.
Race Director Coordinator Report –Charlie Yates
The 2012 GWTC Race Calendar is filling up and is in good shape.
Newsletter Report – Fred Deckert

Clothing Coordinator Report – Paula O’Neill
Paula sold $327 in clothing and merchandise this month.
Equipment Report –Vicky Verano
The Club now owns a new clock stand for a total of three stands. Vicky anticipates a busy Fall season given the number of races on the calendar. She will explore additional storage units for possible relocation to a larger facility in the future.

Chenoweth Fund Report – Mary Jean Yon for David Yon
A representative from the Tallahassee Trail Blazers youth running club, requested $2,000 or “best available” to assist the participants with expenses for late season meets. The Chenoweth Committee approved $500. A motion to approve this request was made, seconded, and approved.
Caroline LeFrak (Empire Athletics Management) made a request for $2,500 on behalf of Pasca Cheriuyot, who ran for FSU and is now trying to transition to a pro career. This would provide funding for race entries, clothes, shoes, etc. The Chenoweth Committee did not feel this request was consistent with the core mission of the Chenoweth Fund and denied the request.
Triathlon Report – Kathy McDaris
Kathy reported that the Tri Club kids bike racks are being picked up and delivered to the Club storage facility this week.
Lecture Series Report – Nancy Stedman

Training Report – Judy Alexander for Robin Borschel and T. J. Cutchins
The Beginning Running Class will begin Wednesday, September 21st and continue through November 9, 2011. The place is Mike Long Track (FSU Track), and the time is 6:15 pm. The cost is $25 which includes the class, individual membership to GWTC thru 2012, and a donation to the Chenoweth Fund. The graduation run is FSU Cares on November 13, 2011.
Social Coordinator Report – Judy Alexander for Elizabeth Stupi
The August social will be held on August 21 from 3pm to 7pm at Maclay Gardens. A barbeque with hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks and water will be provided by GWTC. Participants will be asked to bring a side dish. More information and confirmation is posted on the GWTC webpage.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:32 p.m.
