Currently there are two annual 5K races at the JR Alford Greenway, the
Bobcat 5K and the Bluebird 5K. Both cross-country events are contested
on the same course, but being six months apart, they are nearly as
different as cats and birds. The Bobcat 5K, run in late winter/early
spring features cool temperatures and short grass. The Bluebird 5K, in
late summer/early fall, features torrid temperatures and wet, shaggy
turf.

The cool, short-grass race was this past Saturday, and here is what happened.
