GULF WINDS TRACK CLUB Minutes

Board/GWTC Members present: Tom Perkins, David and Mary Jean Yon, Beth Alexander, Joe and Nadine Dexter, Paul Ahnberg, Judy Alexander, Bonnie Wright, Fred and Margarete Deckert, Charlie Yates, Terry Ryan, Bill Lott, Jane Johnson, and Terry Massa.

Tom Perkins called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM and quorum was established. The January minutes were reviewed. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.

REPORTS:

Race Director Coordinator — Charlie Yates announced he has added the 2006 FSU football schedule to his race calendar. FSU will host the FSU Relays March 22 through 25. The City championships will be held the week after Springtime. Chris Sumner is hosting the Jesse Forbes Invitational, a city wide meet, March 4 at Godby. For $150 sponsorship level, the Club’s name is on the shirt. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to sponsor the Jesse Forbes Invitational at the $150 level.

Race Director — Terry Massa thanked the Club for the wonderful support she received for her first race.

Treasurer’s Report — Bonnie Wright no report.

Clothing Coordinator — Margarete Deckert reported that she sold 7 shirts; business is good.

Newsletter — Fred Deckert discussed how to retain members. He wants to offer multiple year memberships.

Training Committee — Nadine Dexter reported that Julie Clark has 70 runners in the Monday night Springtime training group that meets at 5:30 pm at Myers Park. Also, Nadine reported that she was granted permission to use the Thornton Road area of Miccosukee Greenway for her new training group.

Equipment — Joe Dexter reported that mile markers 1 through 18 were recently purchased and used at the 30K.

Chenoweth Fund — David Yon reported the Fund received a generous amount of donations with renewed memberships.

Membership — Judy Alexander for Brian Corbin reported that there are currently 312 members represented by 567 memberships.

Racing Team Coordinator — Tim Unger no report.

Grand Prix Committee — Paul Ahnberg presented the final cost for the Grand Prix awards ceremony. He also said the committee is working on a schedule for future committees to know when and what needs to occur. He mentioned a Super Grand Prix he is thinking about. It would include neighboring clubs.

Social Coordinator — Kathy Lindsay no report.

Lecture Series — Michael Pasquier no report.

OLD BUSINESS:

Tom Perkins presented t-shirt and ribbon prices he obtained for the Summer Track Series. He feels $1000 will cover expenses for the Series. A motion was made, seconded, and passed unanimously to appropriate this money for the Summer Track budget.

There was a motion to adjourn made at 8:35 PM, which was seconded and passed by unanimous vote.

The next board meeting will be held on March 8, 2006 hosted by Fred and Margarete Deckert.

These minutes have not been reviewed and accepted by the Board.
