Mark Tombrink, the 2023 GWTC Lecture Series Coordinator, is pleased to announce special guests Ann Centner and Stan Linton who will share their secrets of marathon training and performance with Gulf Winds Track Club members and friends on April 13, 2023. The presentation will be in the Event Room at Ology Northside (2910 Kerry Forrest Parkway) and will start at 6:00 pm.
Ann Centner has won the Napa Valley Marathon twice, most recently on March 5, 2023, in a time of 2:43:08. In 2022, her winning time of 2:38:30 remains her personal best and the course record for women. The time is tantalizingly close to the Olympic marathon trials qualifying time. Ann must run faster than 2:37:00 to have a ticket to participate in the US Olympic Marathon trials in Orlando next February.
Stan qualified for and competed in the 2020 Olympic Marathon trials. He ran his marathon personal best (so far), in 2:18:45, at Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota on June 15, 2019. He must run faster than 2:19:00 to qualify again.
Gary Droze, head coach of Tallahassee Community College’s running program, has graciously agreed to introduce our special guests. It will be a special night with a lot of very informative program. We hope you can make it.
Stay tuned to this page as you will find soon more information about our speakers and materials for the presentation.
