As President of Gulf Winds Track Club, I have been appointed to serve on the Unit Management Plan Advisory Committee for the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail. The purpose of this committee as I understand it, is to provide input and advice to the Department of Environmental Protection regarding the development of a unit management plan for the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail. The Plan serves as the basic statement of policy and direction for the management of The Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail as a unit of Florida’s state park system. Membership on this committee provides Gulf Winds Track Club with an opportunity for input into the administration and development of the park. There are twenty-one members on the committee.
I have received the first draft of the Unit Management Plan. The committee’s first meeting is Thursday, October 8th at 9:00 a.m. GWTC members are active users of this and other parks in the Tallahassee area and therefore this representation gives the club a good opportunity for valuable input.
