The GWTC men’s team claimed the Azalea Trail 10k Men’s Open Team Championship March 22.
Tim Bolton Ran a personal record 34:59 for the 6.2 mile distance in The Azalea Trail 10k Competition held in Mobile, Alabama. The current Gulf Winds Track Club Open Champion Tim Unger matched him stride for stride to lead the Gulf Winds Track Club Men’s Open team to an upset victory over the defending champion Spiridon running team from Mobile Alabama. Jim Eastman of Navarre, Fl. joined the two Tallahassee runners and ran a 35:13 to help defeat powerful Men’s teams from Mississippi and New Orleans by a margin of 7 seconds. This is the second Azalea Trail 10k Open Men’s Team Championship the Gulf Winds Track Club has won.

The 29th annual Fabulous Fiesta 10k in Pensacola May 3rd will likely be our final GWTC team event of the year so lets get our registrations together to be sent by the April 21st deadline. I was able to get the race director of the Fiesta race to change the format of this race for 2003. Fiesta will accept an unlimited number of entries for each team this year so lets get this great event on your running schedule now. Fiesta race fliers have been released. If you need more information please contact Tim Unger, 562-2901
Word from the clubs West of here believe Eglin Air Force Base will remain closed to off base personel due to the war in Iraq. The cancellation of the Memorial day Gate To Gate Run will likely make the Fiesta 10k the last team event of 2003 for GWTC.
