GWTC has been a regular participant in the Relay for Life since the days it was staged at Leon High School – days when members raced ROTC teams through the night. There are many reasons for that support, but certainly a major one is the impact the cancer demon has had on so many members or members’ friends and families. Is there a member who has not been through the experience of pain and disease, either personally or through someone the care deeply about? The good news is that in many cases through courageous spirit and the advances of medicine many are around still to tell their story. The Relay for Life is a great place to see courage on display and to help support research that will help save more lives in the future. So it should surprise no one that GWTC would be at the Relay year after year. This year the effort is led by members who won their own battles against cancer, but remain vigilant in making sure the efforts to find more effective treatments. Fran McLean, Joe Dexter and Nadine Dexter have agreed to lead this year’s effort.
On Saturday, April 21, 2007 they raised $800 in a car wash at the home of Gary and Peg Griffin located. If you would like to join the team, please email Fran at franm@stslaw.com.
