GULF WINDS TRACK CLUB Minutes

Present: Judy Alexander, Jackie McDaniel, Jerry Chesnutt, Mary Jean Yon, Felton Wright, David Yon, Herb Wills, Mark Priddy, Bill Lott, Charlie Yates, Vicky Droze, Gary Griffin, Peg Griffin, Paula Kiger, Paula O’Neill, Tom Perkins and Lisa Unger

Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the December minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.

Judy Alexander welcomed new board members, Lisa Unger and Vicky Droze. She also introduced Paula O’Neill as the new Clothing Coordinator and recognized the exemplary job performed for over a decade by outgoing Clothing Coordinator, Margarete Deckert.

New Business

Paula Kiger made a request for $100 to pay the Relay for Life team registration fee. A motion to approve the request was made, seconded and approved unanimously.

Peg and Gary Griffin gave the Tallahassee Ultra 50k/50m wrap-up. The new course worked out well and the runners seemed to like the change.

Felton Wright reported that there are 33 Fantasy Grand Prix teams. Proceeds go to the Chenoweth Fund.

Old Business

Herb Wills asked the Board to revisit the postponed proposal for a GWTC cross-country race in
December, 201l, at Apalachee Regional Park (ARP). After some discussion among board members, a motion was made to designate the race as a Club race and to hold it at the ARP trail on December 17, 2011. The motion was seconded and approved with two dissenting votes.

Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $38,755 in the Club’s checking account, and $77,579 in a certificate of deposit. The Chenoweth Fund has $10,271. Jerry has filed all the required year end reports on behalf of the Club. He will make available full reports and other official documents, such as the Club tax exempt form through an electronic “Drop Box,” utility.

Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,033 members in 561 households.

Race Director Coordinator Report –Charlie Yates
Charlie reported that the calendar is filling up quickly for 2011 races.

Newsletter Report – Jackie McDaniel for Fred Deckert

Clothing Coordinator Report – Paula O’Neill
Paula thanked Margarete for all the assistance she has provided in the transition of her taking on the clothing duties. She will set up a table with available track club clothing at each of the Springtime training runs. Clothing that has been in inventory for a long time will be offered at a discount. She will also be talking to runners to find out what they would like to have ordered in the future.

Training Report –Judy Alexander for TJ Cutchins and Robin Borschel
The Springtime training group will start January 26, 2011. They will meet on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm this year. T. J. Cutchins and Robin Borschel will be leading the group. On March 2, K-Swiss will have a “Demo Day” with giveaways, shoes for participants to try, and coupons.
