Gulf Winds Track Club Minutes

Present: Mark Priddy, Herb Wills, Mary Jean Yon, David Yon, Lisa Unger, Jackie McDaniel, Jerry Chesnutt, Bill Lott, Paul Guyas, Mike Burns, Amanda Hudson, Bobby York, Charlie Yates, Katie Sherron, Eric Godin, Nancy Stedman, Tom Perkins, and Felton Wright

Felton Wright called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.  Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the December minutes. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to accept the minutes as presented.

New Business

Bill Lott – Bill requested Board approval to purchase a new laptop and an upgrade to the current software as well as a wireless mouse for the timing system.  A motion was made to approve up to $1,500 for the requested purchases.  The motion was seconded and approved.

Mark Priddy – Mark presented a proposed budget for the 2014 Flash 12k/6k races.  A motion was made to approve the budget as presented.  The motion was seconded and approved.

Mandy Hudson – Mandy requested Board approved to split the 2014 Springtime race proceeds between the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend (25%) and the Leon County Humane Society (25%).  The remaining proceeds will go to the Club.  A motion was made to approve the request.  The motion was seconded and approved.

Felton Wright – Felton requested Board approval to appoint Vicky Droze as equipment manager with assistance from Tim Unger.  The request was approved.

Bobby York – Bobby reported that the Swamp Forest Trail Marathon, Half Marathon and 6.5 mile races were a success.  Approximately $1,000 will be split between the Friends of our Parks and the Club.

Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt

There is $112,735 in the Club’s operating account that includes $17,110 in the Events 1 Account, and $2,424.46 in the Events 2 account.  There is $50,351 in the Investment account, $13,120.12 in the Chenoweth account, $10,261 in the Assets Replacement account and $13,183 in the Tri-Club account.

Membership Report – Mark Priddy

At the end of 2013, there were 2,056 Club members in 1,112 homes.  Currently, 1,051 people have renewed or joined the Club.   

Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates

Everything running smoothly.

Newsletter Report –Jackie McDaniel for Fred Deckert

Nothing new to report.

Clothing Coordinator Report –Abe Middleton via Email

Abe and Sara have sold 20 long sleeve shirts.  They are $15 per shirt.  They plan to sell them at the GWTC 30k/15k and the Tallahassee Marathon expo. 

Equipment Report – Vicky Verano and Bill Lott

Bill Lott reported that the new chip reader and mats for the timing system have been delivered and rain covers were included for the readers.

Website Report – David Yon

Nothing new to report.

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon

Nothing new to report.  David did want to express appreciation for all of the GWTC members making donations to the Chenoweth Fund when they renewed their membership.

Triathlon Report – Mike Burns for Kathy McDaris

The Tri Club will host a water stop at the upcoming Tallahassee Marathon.  The Club is participating in the National Tri Competition.  The Tri Club has two teams participating and as of now, Tri team #1 is # 3 overall.  The Red Hills Triathlon is coming up and registration will open at the Tri meeting on January 20.  Jennifer Kilinski is putting on three triathlons at the Reservation in 2014; the dates are March 8, July 19, and October 12.   She will be hosting first timers clinics.  There were 371 club members at the end of 2013.  180 have renewed for 2014.  The Tri Club officers for 2014 are:  President – Kathy McDaris, Vice President – Jennifer Kilinski, Treasurer – Jerry Chesnutt, Secretary – Mike Burns.  At-Large: Ann Bowman, Marci Gray, Ron Harrison, Mike Weyant, and Bobby York.  Past President – Rob McNeely.

Lecture Series – Paul Guyas

Lecture series events have been scheduled for February, March and April.  Updates will be posted on the GWTC webpage.

Training Report

No report.

Social Report – Eric Godin

Positive comments were received regarding the Holiday Party.  Approximately 200 people attended.  December 20 is the date for the 2014 party.  The cost of the facility will be $2,800 and the cost for the band is $1,800.  Once a month, Eric plans to have an informal get together for Club members.  More details to follow.
