The 70° temperature was not ideal, but there was a favorable breeze, and the course still ran downhill at the 19th annual Reservation Run October 16, 1999. Lee Willis and Breeda Dennehy Willis completed a rare husband/wife 1-2 overall finish. Lee and Breeda (the reigning Irish National Cross Country Champion) ran 15:34 and 16:20 respectively.

For nearly two decades the Res Run has been the fastest 5K in Tallahassee, and once again, runners took advantage of it. Jerry Ongley’s huge P.R. of 17:10 made him the second fastest 50-over 5K runner in the state for 1999 according to the Sept.-Oct. edition of Florida Running and Triathlon. And it took a last-ditch kick and a state-leading time of 17:05 by 52-year-old Bill McGuire to beat him to the finish line.

Kim Winn’s 18:25 represented the top time in the women’s 15-19 yr. age group for Florida this year, and Sarah Docter-Williams recent improvement in the swimming pool has apparently translated to the roads, as she scored an impressive P.R. of 17:14.
