May 12, 2010 Board Meeting Hosted by Vicky VeranoPresent: Vicky Verano, Gary Droze, Julie Clark, David Yon, Felton Wright, Bill Lott, Jackie McDaniel, Tom Perkins, Seeley Gutierrez, Herb Wills, Jerry Chesnutt, Mark Priddy, Ben Giles, and Judy Alexander
Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the April minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Ben Giles, Owner of Bagelheads, offered his company’s support for GWTC in the form of free bagels up to 3-4 dozen and discounted bagels if more are requested.
Gary Droze – Gary requested $11,000 for the replacement of the pole vault pit located at Maclay School. Gary explained that the pit is used by many area schools; it is not exclusive to Maclay students. After much discussion among Board members, a motion was made to match funds for a pole vault fund to honor Kurt Westfall up to $5,000. This offer will remain in effect for two years. The motion was seconded, and passed by unanimous vote.
Felton Wright – Felton presented the budget for the 2010 Breakfast on the Track race. A motion to approve the budget as presented was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote. Due to a scheduling conflict, the race date has been changed from August 14 to August 21.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
Currently there is $17,824.41 in the Club’s checking account, and $77,127.83 in a certificate of deposit. The Chenoweth Fund has $16,524.47 and the Tri Club has $7,196.87.
Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,149 members in 611 households including 21 new members in 12 households this month.

Vicky is very happy with the new location of the storage facility. The unit is larger and less expensive than the unit previously leased.

David reported Peg Griffin has purchased the Adobe program for the website and they are moving forward with using it.

The Runners’ Boot Camp was extended by 2 weeks to replace 2 sessions that were rained out.

Prior to adjournment, Tom Perkins reminded the Board that the Senior Games track and field events, scheduled for May 22, will start at 10:00 a.m., at Godby High School. The 5k road race will run simultaneously with the Tulip Trot 5k scheduled on the same day at Tom Brown Park.
David Yon reported that the low country boil will return to the Pot Luck race scheduled for June 5.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:42 p.m.
