Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the April minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
David Yon – David presented the proposed budget for the Pot Luck Bash. A motion was made to approve the budget as presented, seconded, and passed by unanimous vote.
Ashley Edwards, Assistant Director City of Tallahassee Parks and Recreation – Ashley, along with Bob Keller and Robin Safley, spoke to the Board regarding the 2012 Senior Games. The group is seeking assistance and guidance from the Club in the form of volunteers, participants, and ideas on how to promote the games as well as suggestions on where to stage the running events.
Paula O’Neill – Paula collected $105 from clothing and merchandise sales at the recent Tails and Trails 10k/5k. She requested the Board’s approval to donate the funds to the Tallahassee Animal Shelter Foundation. After discussion among board members, a motion was made to donate $105 from the Club’s general fund to the Tallahassee Animal Shelter Foundation in support of their cause. The motion was seconded, and passed unanimously.
Jerry Chesnutt- Jerry is going to look into the different services provided by Tallahassee banks and determine if he wants to move the Club’s accounts. He will report back to the Board when he has made a decision.
Judy Alexander – Judy gave a wrap up of the Springtime Tallahassee 10k/5k/1 mile race. The net proceeds, approximately $6,500 will be split between the Club and the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend after the numbers have been finalized and verified. An additional $300 from the sale of raffle tickets will also be donated to the Boys and Girls Club.
Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $33,078 in the Club’s checking account and $77,746 in a certificate of deposit. The Chenoweth fund has $12,163 and the Tri Club has $5,651.
Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,392 members in 768 households. For the month, that is an increase of 61 members and 39 additional households.

Clothing Coordinator Report – Paula O’Neill
Paula made $135 in clothing and merchandise sales this month. She brought a sample of the car magnet to show the Board. A suggestion was made to have the Club webpage address put on the magnet; she will check into it.
Equipment Report – Vicky Verano
Everything is going well with equipment rentals.

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
Michael Weyant requested $500 for the upcoming Red Hills Kids’ Triathlon. The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $500. A motion was made to approve the request, seconded and passed unanimously. Teresa Sancho, a representative from the Tallahassee Trail Blazers youth running club, requested $1,500 to assist the participants with expenses traveling to and competing in the Mark Trail Memorial Day Meet. The Chenoweth Committee approved $1,000. A motion was made to approve this request. The motion was seconded and approved by unanimous vote. Gary Droze requested $1,000 in support of the summer SMIRF (Summer Mornings Include Running Fun) Program. The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $1,000. A motion was made to approve the request, seconded, and passed unanimously.
Last month, David presented a request to the Board made by Joe Mizereck on behalf of the Florida Youth Running Association (FLYRA). The Board agreed to support the organization with a $1,000 grant. David brought the issue up again this month to make sure that everyone understood that the group plans to use the funds to combine forces with flrunners.com for this spring’s 10th Annual Florida Middle School State Track & Field Championship. Everyone was in agreement that this should be supported with the previously approved grant.
Triathlon Report – Robert Macdonald
The Tri Club membership continues to grow. They are three races into the grand prix series. Tri Club board members are working with DRC to provide discounts to Tri Club members. K-Swiss will sponsor the Club again this year. Seeley Gutierrez, Kiko Cintron and Stephanie Liles-Weyant will be speaking on overtraining at the next meeting to be held at MoMo’s Pizza on May 16, 2011.
Lecture Series Report – Nancy Stedman

Training Report – Chuck and Jana Davis
Currently there are over 90 runners and ten volunteers registered in the popular Tallahassee Trail Blazers running group. The graduation run will be the Pot Luck Bash. The schedule is posted on the web and updated weekly on the Facebook page. There has been some interest in continuing the group to form a half-marathon training group.
Social Coordinator Report – Elizabeth Stupi
Bill Lott’s appreciation party was well attended last month. The next event, disc golf, will be held May 14 at Tom Brown Park. The June social is the Pot Luck Bash.
Before the meeting adjourned, Michael Kennett spoke to the Board about starting a race series for 10k races. Michael will explore options and potential races and report his findings back to the Board.
Tom Perkins thanked the Board for approving sponsorship of the 2011 Tallahassee City Track and Field Championship. $1,273 of the approved $1,500 budget was spent on awards.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:45 p.m.
