About 125 runners finished the Sports Beat 5K race, Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2000. The men’s field was extremely fast as Brian Fleischmann led six runners under 17:00 minutes with his winning time of 15:30. The women’s winner was Anna Pichrtova, making it three in a row, with a time of 17:26.
There was a wonderful post race party featuring beer, beans and rice and pizza on the grounds in front of Sports Beat. Race director Shannon Sullivan expressed some disappointment that more people did not attend, but those that did certainly had a good time.
