The Panhandle Runners & Triathlete’s 27th Annual Midnight Chase 5K Run & Fitness Walk and the 1 Mile Family Fun Run was held in Panama City on September 2 at MIDNIGHT! 150 sleepless individuals participated in what was the largest and fastest crowd this race has seen.
Brandon Hough fought off the late charge of Brian Goddin for the win with his PR effort of 16:41. New male masters and male grandmasters records were also set. The male masters, Tim Unger, and grandmasters, Chris Neal, from Tallahassee’s Gulf Winds Track Club, posted a 17:45 and a 17:53 respectively. Mackey Tyndall won the Wheelchair division with a quick 17:19.
On the women’s side, Sandy Eubanks and Paula Piazza, both of Tallahassee, blazed the course with sub-21 minutes effors. Sandy with a 20:05 and Paula with a 20:51. June Leland of Tampa won the Grandmaster’s award with a time of 24:13.
