The return of Music Mania 8K to Tallahassee was a great success. As I looked over the 100 or so runners gathered that morning I was envious. I wanted to be among them running this course on this cool and beautiful morning.
Whenever someone called to ask about the race, I did not lie. I told that is was tough, very tough. But also that is was a scenic route running through very nice neighborhoods. I again had to call upon my many friends to help secure the course. My fear of uncontrollable volumes of traffic was unfounded. The roads were quiet. Not even the crossing of 6th & 7th streets or Betton Road were a problem.
Race results were provided about 10 minutes after the last person finished. The “Music Mania Rock Sounds of the 80’s” CD was well received. A couple of 2nd place age group finishers collected the CD because the winner did not stay for the awards.
The Parks Department, BB/BS, Police Department, and my very good friends – the volunteers, deserve a big THANK YOU!
