Gulf Winds Track Club Minutes
of the September 10, 2014 Board Meeting Hosted by Mandy Hudson at Premier Health & FitnessPresent: Felton Wright Mandy Hudson, Nancy Stedman, Jerry Chesnutt, David Yon, Michael Kennett, Mike Burns, Mark Priddy, Mike Savage, Tom Perkins, Bill Lott, Doug Bell, Lisa Unger and Mary Jean Yon.
Felton Wright called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Quorum was established.
The Board reviewed the August minutes. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to accept the minutes as presented.
New Business
Michael Kennett – Michael reviewed the planned races for the Third Annual GWTC 10K race series for 2014-15. There will be a total of 10 races kicking off with the Yellow Jacket Swarm at Conley School on October 18th. Continuing the tradition of focusing on participation, rather than performance, members that run 7 of the 10 races will receive an award at the end of the series. A motion to allow Michael to proceed with the series and a $1000 budget was made, seconded, and approved. The list of races and further details are posted on the GWTC web site.
Mandy Hudson – Mandy presented the proposed Grand Prix Schedule for 2015. A motion was made to approve the schedule, seconded, and approved.
Mary Jean Yon – Mary Jean provided the Board with a preliminary slate of nominees for the upcoming Club elections. At the present time, there are 18 people running for Board positions. The closing date for nominations is September 30, 2014. Felton added that the Club’s Annual Business meeting will be held October 6 at Momo’s @ 6:30 p.m. which will be a good opportunity to meet the candidates.
Felton Wright – Felton presented a wrap-up report for Breakfast on the Track. The net income for the race was $1044 with $522 (50% of proceeds) going to the Maclay Track Boosters.
Tom Perkins – Tom presented a wrap-up report on the Miller Landing Madness 8K/5K. The race netted $647.86 which will go to the Chenoweth Fund. Tom added that 1,676 pounds of canned goods were donated to Second Harvest which is valued at $2832 that will provide 1394 meals to those in need.
David Yon – David presented a proposed budget for the 2014 Turkey Trot races. A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded, and approved.
Doug Bell – Doug presented a proposed budget for the 2014 Prefontaine 5K. A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded, and approved.
Lisa Unger – Lisa presented a proposed budget for the 2014 Women’s Distance Festival 5K. A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded, and approved.
Mike Burns – Mike presented a proposed budget for the 2015 Palace Saloon 5K. A motion was made to approve the budget, seconded, and approved.
Treasurer’s Report –Jerry Chesnutt
There is $58,910 in the Club’s operating account that includes $17,532 in the Events 1 Account, and $10,253 in the Events 2 account. There is $50,351 in the Investment account, $12,015 in the Chenoweth account and $9,958 in the Tri Club Account. Jerry noted that the timing equipment reserve account, which is comprised of revenues gained from chip timing non-club races, contains $22,000.
Membership Report – Mark Priddy
There are 1,680 members in 827 households. There are 343 Tri Club members. Mark reminded everyone that later this month, people will be able to sign up for club membership through EventBrite.

Clothing Coordinator Report –Abe Middleton
Nothing new to report.
Equipment Report –Bill Lott and Vicky Droze
Bill mentioned that the broken Chronomix timing device has been repaired and is ready for use again. He added that someone had approached Vicky offering to sell a used inflatable arch for use at race finish lines. The Board briefly discussed the idea and agreed to decline the offer.

Chenoweth Fund Report –David Yon
A request was made on behalf of Gretchen Everhart School to buy t-shirts for the upcoming Owl Run. The request of $ 500 met the approved of the Chenoweth Committee. A motion was made to approve the request, seconded, and approved.
Triathlon Report –Mary Jean Yon for Kathy McDaris
The Tri Club is currently accepting nominations for club officer positions. The nomination period will remain open until September 30th and the election will be conducted online with the GWTC election. The last Youth Triathlon Series race was held Sunday, September 7th and had 257 participants, a record number. Ten of the South City multi-sport kids participated and successfully completed the event. The Tri Club Board is discussing raising club dues from $10 to $12 in order to absorb online registration and membership costs.

Training Report
Felton announced that he has appointed Beth Alexander to coordinate information on all of the various training groups and establish a calendar resource for the GWTC website. Information can be shared for club groups (such as Beginning Runners, training groups associated with club races, Trail Blazers, etc.) as well as other local groups not directly affiliated with GWTC. Felton would also like to establish EventBrite as the online tool for having club waivers signed.
Social Report – Eric Godin via email
Eric has scheduled a NFL football game watching social at Momo’s on Monday, September 15th at 8:00 p.m. The game will be Eagles vs. Colts.
There being no further business to discuss; a motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and passed at 8:45 p.m.
