Two thumbs up for the new course for the Women’s Distance Festival! And 5 stars for Judie Kean’s organizational skills. This year’s grand prix race started at Optimists Park in Indian Head acres. The course winds through some beautiful neighborhoods. The women get a 5 minute head start and they knew what to do with it. The battle at the front was between Sarah Docter-Williams and Jane Johnson. They went out together with Jane taking an early turn at the front. Sarah came home first though with an 18:02 compared to Jane’s 18:15. They had plenty of time after they finished to watch Tim Simpkins win the men’s race with a time of 16:36. Mike Labossiere finished second with a time of 16:58. An interesting note – there were 71 male finishers and 71 female finishers.
